No.48/2006 Voluntary agreements for reduction in power consumption made by Statnett

Nord Pool Spot has recieved the following message from Statnett:

Statnett has made an agreement with 8 companies for the right to reduce these companies power consumption up to 370 MW or in total 765 GWh (765 million kilowatt hours).

The purpose of the arrangement is to reduce the risk of for rationing by giving Statnett the right to reduce these companies consumption of power. The option agreement is not a means for correcting the energy balance in Norway. It will howeever, be a useful tool for Statnett if it becomes necessary for Statnett to reduce consumption for a short period.

THe criteria for the companies for which have been chosen for the agreement are based on consumption, geographical location, flexibility and cost related to each option
