No.44/2007 Electricity trading over the NorNed Interconnector at the end of October
Nord Pool Spot has received the following message from Statnett SF:
The trading of electricity over the NorNed interconnector between Norway and the Netherlands is planned to start at the end of October 2007.
The originally intended market coupling between the power exchanges Nord Pool Spot and APX cannot be implemented immediately, because both Gate Closure Times for the day-ahead markets cannot be harmonized before end of October. Statnett and TenneT have therefore decided to propose and develop an explicit auction as being the most suitable temporary trading solution for the NorNed cable.
The NorNed parties seek to realise a full market coupling across the NorNed interconnector between the Nordic day-ahead market and the Central West European (CWE) market by January 2009.
Statnett and TenneT are requesting the necessary approvals from the respective authorities in Norway and in the Netherlands, to implement the intended temporary explicit auction trading solution for NorNed. The approvals from the authorities are necessary conditions to go live.
