No.90/2007 Advance information about long-term transmission capacity between Finland and Sweden
Nord Pool Spot AS has received the following message from Fingrid:
The maximum net transfer capacity available for market today is 2050 MW from Sweden to Finland and 1650 MW from Finland to Sweden. The transmission capacity from Finland to Sweden depends on power balance in the northern Finland. Typically due to winter temperatures the deficit in northern Finland increases and this will be taken into account when defining NTC from Finland to Sweden. During night time the NTC may be reduced according to the forecasted deficit volume.
After the commissioning of the Olkiluoto 3 unit in Finland and the new sea cable connection Fenno-Skan 2 at the end of 2011, the transmission capacity from Sweden to Finland will increase 500 MW and the transmission capacity from Finland to Sweden will increase 800 MW. The capacity will be updated later after more detailed power system analyses.
