How to become a participant
The following is a list of key tasks to be completed in order to become a participant on the Nord Pool Gas market.
1. Submit an application to Nord Pool Gas AS – with the following information
- Your company’s full name, registration number and contact person.
- Enclosed with the application letter should be:
- A transcript from the company register of the participant's company certificate, not older than two months.
- The company’s most recent annual reports and interim reports; for newly established companies, the opening balance sheet.
- Submit your company’s VAT registration information to Nord Pool Gas.
- For clearing customers, the trading and clearing representative will submit this information.
2. Signing participant agreement.
- When Nord Pool Gas has received all relevant information stated above, Nord Pool Gas will issue a participant agreement in two copies that both parties have to sign.
- For clearing customers, Nord Pool Spot will issue three copies of the agreement to be signed by Nord Pool Gas, the trading and clearing representative and the clearing customer.
3. Submit names of individuals authorized to conduct trade.
- A registration form will be sent together with the participant agreement.
- Not applicable for clearing customers.
4. Establish a bank account.
- Establish non-pledged bank account for settlement as required by Nord Pool Gas.
5. Post a minimum security required for trade
- Before trade can begin; participants must post a minimum security amount as an on-demand bank guarantee.
6. Register as a player on the Danish gas market at Energinet.dk.
- Nord Pool Gas requires that all participants enter into a framework agreement with Energinet.dk in order to be registered in the Register of Players. Please refer to www.energinet.dk for detailed information.
7. Trade can begin
- As soon as the above requirements have been met; NPG will release access information to the trading system. Trade at Nord Pool Gas can begin.

Please note that the change in the Norwegian bidding areas affects which geographical areas the terms NO1, NO2, NO3 and NO4 refer to. This means that a direct comparison between present and historical data for Norwegian bidding areas is not possible.
