Cross border optimization (CBO) is a service offered by Nord Pool Spot to improve effeciency of the cross border trade between Jutland and Germany. The main purpose of the service is to secure that the power flow across the border is responding to price signals from the two markets Jutland (DK1) and the KONTEK area (KT).

Traders have the possibility to hand over the administration of the capacities bought at the daily auctions at the border between Jutland and Germany. Nord Pool Spot will secure that power flows from the low price area to the high price area. In return the participant will receive the congestion rent generated from the cross border flow.
